The 4th Asia- Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit will take place in Copenhagen on 22 -24 September 2002. This summit will address 3 main issues: 1) the international situation in the aftermath of September 11, new security issues and recent regional developments An innovation of this summit is that Leaders will hold an informal retreat to allow a 'Dialogue among Cultures and Civilisations'. The ASEM process reflects the evolution of contacts between the two regions from an 'aid and trade' relationship to a more balanced and equal partnership. |
