In her speech before the 52nd Regional Assembly for Europe of the World Health Organisation on 16 September 2002, the Spanish Minister for Health and Consumer Affairs, Ana Pastor, emphasised the importance of a 'combined effort' between intergovernmental agencies and governments of developed countries to reduce health inequalities that exist in Europe.
