Press Release: Dempsey calls for new EU environmental liability proposals to apply to nuclear industry

Speaking during a debate on a proposed new directive on environmental liability at the Council of Environment Ministers' meeting in Brussels on 4 March 2002, Noel Dempsey, Ireland's Minister for the Environment and Local Government, registered Ireland's strong opposition to the exclusion of the nuclear industry from the scope of the proposals.
