CELEX Reference Manual, January 2002

A brand new database reference manual, dated December 2001, has been made available on the CELEX home page. It covers the content and structure of the CELEX database with useful search hints and samples of data. It has been revised to incorporate new data such as the EFTA documents and the additional Official Journal C series material. The appendices include up-to-date document codes, field names, classification codes and descriptors together with a sample screen of the menu and advanced search. This is not a search tutorial guide though it does give a very brief set of instructions on where to start. However it will be an invaluable reference source on what exactly is included in the database and the necessary codes to extract the required information. Currently only available in English, it is being translated into the other official languages. The one big drawback is that it is available simply as an electronic file in PDF - not the easiest way to use this kind of material. And at one hundred and twenty-seven pages in length, this is not something that you simply print off! Perhaps a published version will appear in due course to facilitate consultation.
