Regierungserklärung: Tagung des Europäischen Rates in Laeken am 14./15. Dezember 2001 [Government Statement on the European Council in Laeken on 14/15 December 2001]

Plenary protocol of a government statement by Federal Chancellor, Gerhard Schröder to the German Bundestag on 12 December 2001 on the outcome of the European Council in Laeken. Among the issues covered are the fight against international terrorism, the successful conclusion of the Afghanistan conference on the Petersberg (Bonn), an end to the violence in the Middle East, a Common Foreign and Defence Policy, the development of an independent European security and defence policy, the introduction of the Common currency, the enlargement of the European Union, institutional reform, a European constitution, the appointment of a convent as well as further development of the European intergration.
