As a result of the terrorist attacks in the United States on 11 September 2001, the International Air Transport Agency (IATA) estimates the number of job losses in the global airline industry at about 200,000. Pierre Jeanniot, the Director-General of the International Air Transport Agency (IATA) said, on 9 October 2001, that he also expected the industry to suffer net losses of $7bn in 2001 and to take nearly 12 months to recover. |
