Opposition to euro begins to wane as IMF takes lead in celebrations

International Monetary Fund economists have given the euro a ringing endorsement, describing the arrival of euro notes and coins by 12 European Union countries as 'a matter for celebration'. The generally positive mood in the run-up to E-Day on 1 January 2001 is also being felt by citizens in non-eurozone Sweden and Denmark.
