The CoR-Poland Joint Consultative Committee will hold its inaugural meeting on 26 November 2001 in Warsaw. The CoR-Poland Joint Consultative Committee was set up by the EU-Poland Association Council on 28 September 2001. It is composed of 8 members of the CoR (plus 8 alternates) and 8 Polish members (plus 8 alternates). Other joint committees between the CoR and the cities and regions of the candidate countries will be set up in the future. The creation of these committees is part of the CoR's enlargement activity. The CoR-Applicant States Liaison Group, chaired by Lord Hanningfield, has established direct contacts with representatives of cities and regions in the candidate countries to help them in their preparations for EU membership.
