The European Union stated its determination to reach decisions which will enable the Kyoto Protocol to enter into force at the start of the Ministerial level of the Climate conference in Marrakech (COP7) on 8 November 2001. “The European Union is determined to uphold the integrity of the political agreement reached in Bonn and calls upon the parties to respect strictly the Bonn agreement and to maintain the political consensus and the spirit of co-operation that prevailed at COP6bis. All the elements of the Bonn Agreement must be faithfully translated into legal texts”, said Belgian State Secretary Olivier Deleuze, head of the EU delegation.
