A strategy to reduce the presence of dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the environment, animal feed and food was adopted by the European Commission on 25 october 2001. . The Commission has proposed an integrated approach to enhance the protection of human health and of the environment from the effects of dioxins and PCBs. The proposals will be discussed at the Health Council on 15th November 2001. The Communication from the Commission adopted today details further areas of action and will also be submitted to the EP and the ESC. |
