The group of European intellectuals convened by the President of the Commission Romano Prodi and the Prime Minister of Belgium Guy Verhofstadt, to 'brainstorm' on the role that the city of Brussels might play in the life of the European Union in future, has reached preliminary conclusions. The European Commission's Group of Policy Advisers will now compile a report, in collaboration with the participants in this project, which will be made available to the Belgian government and the Brussels authorities. It is hoped that an open debate with the citizens of Brussels will follow. |
