IMPEL

The EU Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL) is an informal network comprising the environmental authorities of the member states of the EU and the European Commission. Known also as the “Chester Network” from the Council meeting at which the idea originated, the group seeks to drive forward the application and enforcement of environmental legislation through the exchange of information and experience. The IMPEL Network produces a number of reports which are available from its website at http://europa.eu.int/comm/environment/impel/index.htm/. Details of the work programme, news and membership can also be found there. A parallel network AC-IMPEL tries to assist the applicant countries to meet the existing standards in the run up to accession, while the IMPEL-TFS network works on the Transfrontier Shipment of Waste.

EBED changes

The website of the Electronic Bulletin of European Documentation, EBED, produced by the EDC staff of the Institute of European Studies at the Catholic University of Louvain has been redesigned and has a new address. Bookmarks need to be altered to http://www.euro.ucl.ac.be/ebed/. The website has more facilities if the browser Internet Explorer is used. The EDC staff invite comments on the new design. These can be submitted via the website.
