On 20.3.01, the European Commission adopted a Green Paper on the future of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The Green Paper puts forward new objectives and presents options on how to achieve them. By the end of 2002, a wide-ranging debate will have been launched about the future shape of Community fisheries. Following this debate and a public hearing on 5 to 7 June 2001, the Commission will bring forward its proposals for a revised CFP which should enter into force on 1 January 2003. The Green Paper consists of 2 volumes: Vol.1: Green Paper on the future of the Common Fisheries Policy. Vol.2: Implementation of the Community System for fisheries and aquaculture over the period 1993-2000; Economic and social situation of coastal regions; State of the resources and their expected development. |
