Press Release: New EUR 1.2 million Phare project on judicial co-operation in criminal matters in the candidate countries

On 14-16 March 2001, the European Commission hosted a conference in Brussels launching a new €1.2 million Phare project to support the Central European candidate countries in adopting and implementing the body of the European Union law in the area of judicial co-operation in criminal matters. Co-operation in this area is an important part of the EU's agenda for the creation of an area of freedom, security and justice, based on application of the rule of law.
