Beware the manufactured case against the euro

The author, who is chief economist for Britain in Europe, believes that if we decide to rule out joining the euro, we would place our manufacturing industry at a a permanent competitive disadvantage. We should consider whether we want the UK to compete on low wages and low taxes to attract low value service industries to our shores or whether we want to be the powerhouse of Europe, creating hi-tech, high value-added goods.
