Mexican President Felipe de Jesús Calderón, on the occasion of his European tour, will pay a visit to the EU Institutions in Brussels on 6 June 2007. Commissioners Benita Ferrero-Waldner (External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy), Mariann Fischer Boel (Agriculture and Rural Development), Peter Mandelson (Trade), Janez Potocnik (Science and research) and Vladimir Spidla (Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities) will offer a working lunch to President Calderón, who is accompanied by Mexican Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, and of Economy, Eduardo Sojo Garza-Aldape. During the lunch discussions will focus on the EU-Mexico bilateral relations and the progress achieved in the last 3 years, notably through the implementation of the Association Agreement, and on strengthening co-operation and coordination in international fora on issues such as climate change, human rights and social cohesion. On 8 June 2007, President Calderon will meet the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, in Heiligendamm (Germany) in the context of the G8+5 meeting. |
