UK backs green energy targets in U-turn

The United Kingdom and France have dropped their objections, and will now support the proposal for a binding EU-wide 20 per cent target for renewables put forward by Germany and the European Commission. This is now expected to be adopted as a policy at the European Council, Brussels, 8-9 March 2007.
