Since 1 January 2007 the European Union has three new official languages: Bulgarian, Romanian and Irish. To meet this new challenge, the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) and the Directorate-General for Interpretation (SCIC) have taken a series of measures to recruit extra staff.
