Matti Vanhanen, Finland's Prime Minister, has jettisoned his Social Democrat coalition partners and formed a new government with the centre-right National Coalition party. The move follows the general election in March 2007 that saw a strong showing by National Coalition, the pro-business, low-tax party, which came within one seat of eclipsing the Prime Minister's Centre party.
