EIB Energy Review

The object of this energy review is to present the proposed target areas of the EIB activities in energy matters, in order to reflect the EU energy policy priorities, particularly the recent Green Paper “Energy”.

The first chapter gives the evolution of EIB energy operations in recent years. In the second chapter, selected world and EU trends are reviewed, notably related to climate change policy, long-term energy price scenarios and security of supply considerations. Finally, in the third chapter the Bank’s priorities in the different energy sectors and geographical areas are presented. Implementation issues are also reviewed, including in particular appropriate financial instruments and technical assistance contributions.
