Adult learning: It is never too late to learn

On 23 October 2006, the European Commission adopted a Communication calling on the Member States to promote adult learning in Europe. The pressures of demographic change, globalisation and the emergence of newly industrialised and highly competitive countries mean that adult learning must be placed firmly on the political agenda. To do so, the Commission will work with the Member States to produce an Action Plan on Adult Learning in 2007. This aims to support European adult education, with high quality information, guidance and assessment systems, excellent learning content and delivery mechanisms.
