The Europe Direct Information Network (EDIN) is one of the initiatives of DG Communication of the European Commission to help citizens and stakeholders find out about, and connect with, the European Union. EDIN comprises three separate strands:

• Contact Centre in Brussels: you can telephone for free from any EU Member State with an enquiry. The telephone number to ring is 00-800-67891011. You can also email an enquiry.

• Europe Direct Information Centres (EDIC): a network of information centres distributed throughout the Member States of the European Union. They are intended primarily to help citizens and school children connect with the European Union, although they will help other groups and stakeholders as well. While they provide an information service they are also expected to proactively engage with the public by organising events and other initiatives to highlight the European dimension in everyday lives.

• European Documentation Centres (EDC): a network of information centres distributed throughout the Member States of the European Union. They are intended primarily to help students and researchers at universities and other institutions of advanced learning find information about the history, institutions, policies and processes of the European Union and the European integration process. EDCs will also help other groups and stakeholders as well.
