Press Release: Mergers: Commission authorises proposed take-over by Sonae Indústria of Hornitex

The European Commission on 29 June 2006 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed take-over by Sonae Indústria of Portugal of the German company Hornitex, both active in the manufacture and sale of fibreboards. The proposed concentration would result in Sonae Indústria acquiring control of Hornitex’s wood-based board manufacturing operations, based in Germany. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
