The Irish Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Dick Roche, on 22 June 2006, welcomed the Opinion by the Advocate General in the European Court of Justice that the European Commission case against Ireland in relation to planning fees was unfounded. The European Commission had alleged that the practice of charging administrative fees for making submissions on planning applications and appeals involving Environmental Impact Assessments infringed the EU Directives on EIA. A final ruling by the European Court of Justice was expected later in the year. |
