Abstract:
This book deals with transparency in Europe through wider access to government information. The work has two aims. The first is to present an overview of EC and Member State legislation relating to access of information and the second is to draw comparisons between EC and Member Sate legislation and consider the conclusions which arise.

The book is organised in three parts. The first offers an introduction setting out the scope, methodology and terminology of the research. Part two presents the comparative analysis of EC and Member State legislation. Part three deals with the EU and Member State survey.

The work will interest scholars, students, practitioners and researchers engaged in European Law, European Studies and governance.

Wim Voermans is a Professor in Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Leiden. Herke Kranenborg is a Lecturer on European Law at the University of Leiden.
