The formation of Iraq’s new government gave the EU an opportunity to open a new chapter in its relations with Iraq. The European Commission examined how the EU could step up its engagement with the country and on 7 June 2006 presented a number of recommendations with a special focus on consolidating democracy and building Iraq’s economy. |
