Press Release: The Commission fully assumes political responsibility for management in 2005

The European Commission on 7 June 2006 adopted its 2005 Synthesis report of Commission management. This document accompanied the Synthesis of policy achievements adopted in March 2006 and reports on how the European Commission had performed its management responsibilities and on the assurance its internal control systems provide in this respect. Following the encouragement from the European Parliament and the European Court of Auditors, the European Commission thus further formalised the expression of its political responsibility for management of the EU budget, in accordance with article 274 of the Treaty.
