Press Release: Crisis distillation of wine to be opened in Spain and Greece

The EU's Wine Management Committee on 23 June 2006 voted on proposals from the European Commission to open crisis distillation of wine in Spain and Greece. For Spain a maximum of 300,000 hectolitres of quality wine were allowed to be offered for distillation. For Greece crisis distillation was opened for a maximum quantity of 370,000 hectolitres of table wine and 130,000 hectolitres of quality wine.
