EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson presented, 29 May 2006 the second annual report to the European Parliament on the use of the European Union’s preferential market access schemes for developing countries. Launched in 2005, this annual report from the services of the Commission provides the European Parliament with an overview of the effectiveness of the EU’s programmes for widening market access and building trade from developing countries to the EU market. These include the EU’s Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), GSP Plus and the ground-breaking "Everything But Arms" scheme which has allowed duty and quota free market access to the EU for all imports expect weapons from the world’s Least Developed Countries since 2001.
