Press Release: Environment: Commission pursues legal action against Germany, drops investigation of Frankfurt airport complaint

The European Commission on 6 April 2006 decided to send Germany a final written warning over inadequate protection of wild birds. The Commission also decided to take no action over complaints concerning the potential impact on protected nature areas of works at Frankfurt Airport. The Commission’s investigation showed that the works would result in no overall harm to nature areas, as measures were taken by the German authorities to compensate for nature losses due to the works.
