Former President of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic was found dead in his prison cell at The Hague on 11 March 2006, where he was on trial for war crimes. Carla del Ponte, the United Nations prosecutor, warned on 12 March that Mr Milosevic's death made it even more urgent that other war crimes suspects such as Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic were brought to justice.
