Healthcare reform – unpopular even in Slovakia

Although many painful reforms have been adopted in Slovakia over the last couple of years, the only one which is clearly disliked by the public is the reform of the healthcare system. It introduced profit-making and hard budget constraints into the system in an effort to increase efficiency, yet did not significantly increase choice or responsiveness in insurance coverage and medical treatment.
