According to a report, 'Projecting OECD health and long-term care expenditures: what are the main drivers?', released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on 9 February 2006, UK public spending on health and long-term care will rise steeply as a proportion of national income by 2050, unless the Government acts to increase efficiency and productivity in health care.
