Charlie McCreevy tries to work his magic on Europe

Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Charlie McCreevy has completed his first
year in office and has already established himself as an outspoken defender of the internal
market. Rebuilding the economic competitiveness of the EU is one of his overriding
objectives and in this he brings a wealth of experience to the table: as Finance Minister
of Ireland for seven years he played a key role in laying the foundations of the
country’s rapid and impressive economic growth. Here, he talks to Single Market
