Sustainable Urban Renewal

With an overwhelming percentage of the EU population living and working in cities, urban renewal is a central element in the economic and social strategy of the EIB. Operations to date range from social housing projects, to urban transport and environmental improvement schemes, implemented both in and outside the European Union. In this publication, light is shed on the wide spectrum of urban renewal projects in which the EIB is involved and the added value that EIB funding can bring as a catalyst for financing from the private sector.
