The UK Minister for the Environment, Margaret Beckett, on 15 December 2005, welcomed the outcome of the final High-Level meeting of the CARS 21 Group (Competitive Automotive Regulatory Systems for the 21st century) as another positive step in the process of improving the regulatory environment in the EU. The Group, which brought together representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, Member State Governments, Industry and other stakeholders, published a report and roadmap, containing a series of recommendations on improving the competitiveness of the automotive sector in the EU. |
