Article 7 procedures – consolidating the EU single market for electronic communications

The EU Regulatory Framework for electronic communications, which entered into force on 23 July 2003, empowers the European Commission to comment upon, and in some cases even to veto, proposed national regulatory measures prior to their adoption. These powers enable the Commission to ensure a level playing field in eCommunications throughout Europe and to consolidate the EU single market, to the ultimate benefit of the end customer.
