Press Release: Monetary policy decisions

At a meeting on 31.8.00 the Governing Council of the ECB took the following monetary policy decisions:

1. The minimum bid rate on the main refinancing operations of the Eurosystem would be raised by 0.25 percentage point to 4.50%, starting from the operation to be settled on 6.9.00.

2. The interest rate on the marginal lending facility would be raised by 0.25 percentage point to 5.50%, with effect from 1.9.00.

3. The interest rate on the deposit facility would be raised by 0.25 percentage point to 3.50%, with effect from 1.9.00.
