The European Commission adopted on the 30 October 2000 a 'Roadmap' setting out the sequence of adoption of a schedule of 'packages' involving some 30 reform proposals over the next three months based on its Reform Strategy of 1 March 2000. Four major reform packages will be approved by the Commission, focussing mainly on human resources policy, but also including further measures to improve financial management, control and audit. Together, these proposals will fulfil commitments made in the Reform Strategy of 1 March 2000. The first package was adopted 30 October 2000 on staff policy. These proposals will now be looked at by staff representatives. By the summer of 2001, the Commission will be in a position to finalise its proposals, either for immediate implementation or, where necessary, for presentation to the Council in December 2001. |
