Press Release: Commission proposes decision on radio spectrum

On 12.7.00 the European Commission proposed a regulatory framework for radio spectrum policy in the European Union. Radio spectrum is the cornerstone for a wide range of wireless applications, such as 3rd generation mobile communications and satellite communications. The aim of the proposal is to ensure the harmonised availability and efficient use of radio spectrum and where required, to implement EU policies with regard to electronic communications and in the areas of transport (GALILEO), broadcasting, and R&D.
