A meeting at ministerial level was held between the Troika of the European Union and Mexico, in the context of the Ninth Ministerial Meeting between the European Union and the Rio Group in Vilamoura, Portugal, on 23 February 2000. The Mexican delegation was headed by Ms. Rosario Green, Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The EU delegation was chaired by Mr. Jaime Gama, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and President-in-Office of the Council of the European Union, accompanied by Mr. Javier Solana Madariaga, Secretary-General of the Council of the European Union and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy and Mr. Charles Josselin, State Secretary attached to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, with responsibility for Cooperation and the French-speaking World, France. Mr. Chris Patten, Member, Commissioner for foreign relations, represented the Commission. |
