Turkey and the EU

Over the past decade, Turkey imported more than it exported. Trade relations with the EU accounted for roughly half its imports and exports throughout the period, while Germany and the US were its main trading partners in 1998. The same year, Turkey was the EU's sixth most important export market and its trade figures compared to those of Portugal.
