The Commission is considering removing a special exemption from EU anti-trust rules which allows airlines to collude to fix the price of many Union air fares

The exemption, which runs out next year, lets airlines set prices for tickets requiring different carriers for each leg of a journey, and also in cases where passengers want the flexibility to travel on a different airline than the one they originally booked. But officials believe the special exemption, which has been in place since 1991, could mean higher fares for passengers.
