EU legislation: Transit reform. On 29.3.98 the Council, acting with the European Parliament under the co-decision procedure, adopted the regulation amending the transit provisions of the Community Customs Code. This regulation follows extensive consultation with firms using the transit system. The regulation clarifies and improves the basic rules governing the discharge of the transit procedure and the holder's responsibilities, financial guarantees, simplified procedures between Member States and procedures for the recovery of debts arising from a Community transit operation. |
