Design protection. The Commission has presented an amended proposal for a Council regulation on the European Community Design. The proposal would en courage innovation and help to prevent counterfeiting and piracy by providing for protection of industrial designs throughout the EU's Single Market on the basis of a single, simple and inexpensive registration procedure with the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market based in Alicante, Spain.
