Road transport and working time. The Commission has deplored the failure of European social partners to reach agreement on working time in the road transport sector. The transport sector has been excluded from the terms of the Working Time Directive (93/104/EC) and the Commission has been seeking changes. If the social partners cannot come up with a mutually acceptable set of proposals the Commission will take the initiative and introduce legislative proposals.

The social partners in the maritime and rail sectors have reached agreement.
