Europe Direct. The Commission has launched 'Europe Direct', a new user-friendly service of information and advice about the EU and citizen's rights in the Single Market. The service can be accessed by Internet (http://europa.eu.int/citizensrights/) or by free phone numbers from all Member States (in the UK ring 0800-581591). Subsequently the service will be extended to include information for businesses. 'Europe Direct' is a development from the Citizens First initiative launched in 1996.
