1998 budget. The 1998 budget procedure continued at the Budget Council on 27.11.97. The Council met a European Parliament delegation and reached agreement on a compromise involving an overall additional reduction of € 1,200m compared with the results of the EP's first reading of 23.10.97. The Council then agreed its second reading of the budget. The EU adopted the budget on 16.12.97.
