the Association of European Airlines (AEA) said this week. The organisation, which represents 27 European airlines, said the situation had worsened during the spring and early summer, and urged Europe's politicians to take action to solve the problem. In June, 29.1&percent; of all flights by AEA members were delayed on departure by more than 15 minutes.

The association's secretary-general Karl-Heinz Neumeister blamed a lack of official action to improve air traffic control.
