Date: 19/09/1996 Is a merger on the cards between DGX (information) and the Commission Spokesman's Group under Klaus van der Pas? And if so, will it have to be notified to Brussels for vetting as a potential distortion of the market? No comment, say all those who might be in the know. A link-up between the two services was first tried in the late 1970s and some still insist that it would be logical to put all the Commission's publicity activities together under one supremo.
